Temper's just another word for nothing left to lose

I lost mine last night, something I rarely do, lose my temper. I used to lose it alot before I relocated to a more contented and patient mental residence. It was called for. Four days into getting these floors installed and it was promised, for sure they said, that they were going to be done yesterday. They did next to nothing yesterday blaming their inactivity on a missing reducer. I assessed the situation and decided not to buy the story. Didn't help that they left their power tools in my garage thereby robbing me of the ability of getting my car inside so as to avoid the frozen hell that the last couple of days have been. I used my demanding well modulated tone while discussing the issue with the customer service manager. He understood, was appropriately appalled, and promised immediate resolution. We'll see.

But so much for that. The word temper is often misused isn't it? Especially when it is said that someone has a "temper"........as in "that abusive bastard, the one who beats his wife and kids, the one with latent homosexual tendencies.........he sure does have a temper." Or when someone tells you (generally a lie) that "I don't have a temper" Huh? A temper is a good thing to have. It's the bad ones that cause all the trouble. Temper is the application of a moderating element says the dictionary. Calmness of mind or emotions; composure to elaborate further.

Hey it's Christmas, make sure you have a temper and if you do, don't lose it or let it go bad on you. They'll sour if you leave them out too long. And if you're gonna be alone for the holidays or just feeling down about them in general, drop me a line. I think we should identify those who may be taking on a blue hue as the holidays approach and maybe Christmas Eve late and Christmas morn we can reach out and touch. Touching in all its forms helps don't you think? I'm not blue, nor green with envy, not yellow either and the red in my face from last night has all but disappeared but you can color me available, should you need that holiday touch. I'll have my temper with me too. It's all good, it really is, and even the bad beats the alternative.
