Winding, Crooked Trails

Shared Expressions and Musings with a Connection to the Origin of Things and a Surly Hatred of Progress and Development along with a Churlish Resistance to all Popular Improvements (except for HDTV and Dolby 5:1 surround sound and maybe Books on CD) (thanks Ed)

are as you would expect. Shane has a viewpoint all his own and has volunteered to talk to any abuser who wants to talk about getting help to stop. Guy blew me away. He does not sugar coat anything, nothing. Shane's email is shaneapple@unt.edu

I can always count on you guys to pick up what I dropped. Maddy is a helper, for real, read her comment, and she pointed out that a man just might be the last person a woman in trouble wants to talk to. I can understand that.

So then along comes Laine, (As the Crow flies .......over there, email on her blog) and bingo, we have a female volunteer, someone who, like Maddy, knows the pain all too well.

Even if we've just sparked some awareness, even if just that, or caused someone to approach someone in their life that they know is in trouble. The problem is epidemic and abuse fosters abuse, the beaten tend to beat. Sad but true.

I know it's hard to get out of the cycle of abuse, and that sometimes the safest thing to do is stay is a horrifying reality. It chilled me to read that. No magic answers here, just people who will listen and help as much as they can.

Oh, and surprise surprise, Ricky said yes, of course. And Ed will, count on it.

You all know SS is working hard to change law, right? She can tell you how to be a voice to those who can possibly make a difference with tougher law.

It's a terrifying shame that often a restraining order is a death warrant.

And you know who you are, the naughty emailer, no consensual spanking is not abuse. Brat.

Not to make light of a serious subject but we do have to keep laughing, right?
