Moving right along

The last two posts were quite different weren't they? No duality to this personality. Saturday the boy and I head for Las Vegas to see my father. My father is 79 years old and in much better shape than my step mother whose lungs are failing her. She is mid 60's. Her mother also lives with them which means my dad is one of the few men almost 80 who lives with his mother in law. Go figure.

This is my longest absence from the West in six years. Not counting a quick trip up to Valley of Fire last December when I was in Vegas, it has been since September since I have gotten the red dust on my boots. My son, nephew and I are heading to SW Utah for a couple of days and it will be good to get back among the red rocks and to cool myself in the Virgin River Narrows. If you ever get to Zion NP make sure you take the river walk and then don't just turn around and go back......get in, trudge the rocky bottom back into where the canyon walls narrow to just a few feet and soar hundreds of feet above you. You won't be sorry.

Vegas? I can take it or leave it. It's fun for the spectacle and the people watching. I don't gamble unless you call quarter slots gambling. I've never bought a lottery ticket in my life. Kind of odd for a risk taker isn't it? Sometimes I think it's because I really don't care that much about winning things. Not that I couldn't use a shitload of money, but I don't think about it.

I want to be in Vegas with a woman. That has only happened once, three years ago, and she was there for a convention so it wasn't an all out late night go for it experience and it was only two nights. And it wasn't the right woman. That's the only time I have stayed on the strip in about ten trips out there. The Mirage.

Laine's going to be there next week one night when I am but she'll be with Joe and I'm thinking Joe isn't the sharing type so I doubt we cross paths. Although I'm guessing Laine could pull off an introduction should the opportunity arise. Seeing Laine and Joe face to face in Vegas would be great fun.

But I am meeting a blogger up in Utah and we're going to drink on her deck which has a view to die for. I like her even though she is a brat. She and her husband get to do the greatest hikes and bike rides and river runs. I think she used to be a Mormon but didn't fit in so well. There seems to be a lot of that going around. Personally I like Mormons but my perspective is different. I stay in their motels and eat in their restaurants and get gas and supplies at their food marts and they are honest, reliable, and everything is always clean and predictable. Plus that polygamy thing is intriguing. See? Different perspective.

This will be my first trip with my Treo 650 smart phone. My step mother is funny about me getting on her computer so I am always out of touch when I'm there. I don't ever remember surfing porn there so I don't think that's it. Not to worry though, my little Treo lets me send and receive email and instant messages. I'm not much of an instant messenger person but I love the email access. So if there is something you need to tell me, I'll get it.

I mention it has a camera?

You can even have the phone number if you want it and can't find a wall that it's written on.

And if you send me a photo I'll put it in the directory where your number is and when you call your pic will come up. We can even put in two, one for when you want to have a general conversation and another scantily clad or naked one for those late night I wanna talk dirty to you calls.

I started this post off mundane and G, not sure what happened. I get off track so easily.

Thinking about some guest posting next week here on WCT and of course there is always guest posting on EE. If you have the urge to give me a rash of shit (what is a rash of shit) here in my own home, this would be a good chance. You could just come in and trash the place.

I can't imagine anyone wanting to do that though. Not like I've stirred up any controversy the past month or so.
