I had an epiphany for dinner
with the red sauce, and clams. Actually it came from hanging over at Charkey's
which is a really great place to hang, all the cool kids drop in. There is all this talk about coming out of the closet (no, not that closet) and whom has seen whom and whom is in the dark cause see there are these secret emails goin round, I'll show you my face (ahem, some may be more secret than others) you show me yours stuff. It's like six degrees of photoshop, someone has seen him but they haven't seen her but she has been seen by them but he hasn't seen anyone and everyone has seen rick.
Here is where my epiphany comes in (they aren't very filling). You notice how absent the concerns with color, creed, and religion are here? It almost never gets mentioned, religion and beliefs in general maybe but rarely with a specific dogma attached. And you don't know. I could be a rapper brother or an Islamic Fundamentalist or a Hopi Indian, you just don't know. Now some we do of course, those who have chosen to divulge some portion of themselves but it's probably less than half. We assume we know and we are most likely correct but I don't think it would matter that much and I think it would follow the trend of the tendency here to be less judgemental and critical of others than we are maybe in other social situations.
I think this is primarily a caucasian group cause I notice most of you can't dance but I think that is just a demographic bloganomaly, not because all the white kids are over on this side of town. It certainly isn't because there is some process of selection based on anything other than bringing something positive and interesting to the party or maybe just folks sensing you need a little shoring up or a soft place to land. There is almost no ageism here either (fucking yay), far less than out in the world where we may tend to drift toward our contemporaries.
My point? Dunno that I have one. Maybe it's that your color, your belief system, how many years you've been on earth, none of that has any bearing on me wanting to see you naked. You know me and equal opportunity.
OK so maybe it wasn't much of an epiphany for dinner but it is food for thought.
