Clicking Fate or Fateful Clicking
I've recently been thinking about a template change and I think there are a couple of things that make me hesitant.
One, in some respects I feel like this is my skin, how people are used to seeing me , although I suppose it's no different than getting a haircut or changing clothes or moving into a new house........all of which I've done recently.
Two, I'm afraid of what I might lose in the process, especially comments. There are those far more skilled in html than I, I actually have no skills and have done little to pursue any. I suppose you could say that I am not here for the technical side of web site building. There are sites I admire, their composition and layout, color schemes et al, but I'm essentially here for the words and emotions and to climb inside you and to peak in your corners and to let you take a cruise inside my gnarly, slightly bent and twisted mind.
What is the point of this post you mutter to yourself, you're seeking points you might want to journey elsewhere, but if it has one it would be this.......
Those comments that we all seek (you do seek em, you know you do) are a chronological history of our blog relationships. There are those of you who have been part of my blog world from the very beginning, others who materialized shortly thereafter, and still others who have come on board only recently. Sometimes I'll look back and see when someone appeared in my comments for the first time. Some people stay for awhile and then move on, losing interest or maybe they just blog around. It's OK, I know who my friends are and besides they'll probably catch some kind of virus from sticking their blogs where they don't belong. Unprotected blogging, what can I say?
I feel bad when I don't get to someone for a couple of days and I'll try to leave a comment to let them know I still care. You ever do that? But that's a good thing, right? That sense of loyalty. So anyway, lame post, where was I, oh.......same template, same old look (anyone know how I can move my blogroll?)
I think maybe we ought to declare a blog longevity champion.
If you've had multiple blogs you may be eligible for the Sybil award. Those of you with two or more simultaneous blogs please advise if you ever get confused and say the word fuck in the wrong one. And Rick, Jen, and Lewis, would you consider renting out your vacated blog spaces? Or perhaps donating them to less fortunate bloggers.
How about the oldest running blog?
Anecdotes regarding how you got here are encouraged.
I'll compile and post results.
I'm Edge and I've been blogging since August of 04 and this is my first blog.
Talk to me people.
This just in. So far Kim, a virgin commenter to this blog, is not only longest continuously running blog but senior blogger at Jan 26, 2003........now in her third year.
I know Mystic has been blogging for about 15 minutes and I have no reason to believe Laine's blog history approaches anything near that.
The challenge has been thrown down and the hounds have been released (I really like saying that but I always root for the fox. They should do the hunt with a lion, now that's sport. And take the guns away from the goofballs in the red coats. A really hungry lion.)
