Hanging with Marilyn

I have this Marilyn Monroe photograph framed, a black frame, wide white matte, about 36" X 36" I think. It's nice and I love it, just something about the look, something so Marilyn. Vulnerability, a girlish innocence. The ballerina aspect just adds to that I think. I can only speak from my recollection but young girls of the Marilyn era had little girl fantasies about the ballerina thing. I think it's where their minds wandered while the young boys were strapping on the holsters and guns or donning the coonskin caps. I've always been drawn to Marilyn and the qualities that only she could attain on film, moving or otherwise. It's amazing to me how one person out of so many can become an icon, a true icon, in that Elvis, Marilyn, Bogart, Gable icon way. But that's another post and so is the speculation about who might be this generations icons assuming there will be some and not just a series of who's hot now 15 minutes of fame types, one after another because our attention span seems to have shrunk smaller than our wing span. Again, another post, another time. But back to Marilyn on my wall, this Marilyn in particular. I bought the photo already framed about three years ago in a little gallery downtown and hung it above my bed, centered there over my head Marilyn was, and on either side I had some smaller art work that I won't go into here but is also an interesting story(to me but hey it's my blog) . It looked good there, light from the window across from the bed striking it. It would look best when the shades were drawn and the light was diffused. I love her expression, something about it represents what I find attractive in women, what women represent to me and I like that she is barefooted, really like that she is barefooted and make of that what you will but to me it speaks of femininity and adds to that vulnerability and plus it's just damn sexy to me and I get to decide what's sexy to me right? Besides it's not really a full blown foot fetish and even if it was so what. Defensive today aren't I?

But to the point, Since I've moved, I've moved Marilyn out of the bedroom and I'm adjusting to sleeping without her there above me because I decided to hang her in my casual great room. She is more visible to more people there of course since not all who hang in the great room spend time in the bedroom. But she is there now and she looks good, fits in very well with the atmosphere of the room and the only issue is do I have her hung too high or not. That's always a tough one for me, how high to hang something on the wall. Generally I just eyeball it to my preference since it is afterall my house (see? defensive) but I can't decide whether she is too high or not. I have her centered over a love seat and I thought the bottom of the frame should be higher than the head of someone sitting there so that's how I decided where to put her. Still, it might be too high, maybe I should show you and let you help me decide. I may be defensive but I am not closed minded or unwilling to consider your opinion.

This post has certainly gone nowhere and you can choose to file it under the category of your choice. It seems to be far less controversial than the nipple clamp pic and has no reference to any BDSM activity of any kind. I'm nothing if not versatile. I do love phone sex though.
